Hugo Chavez condemns Libya airstrikes as ‘madness’

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez condemned what he called "indiscriminate bombing" by the U.S. and its allies in Libya, saying Sunday that the assault is unjustified and will only unleash more bloodshed.
Cuba’s government also criticized the attacks and called for the conflict to be resolved through negotiation.
Chavez said the U.S. is after Libya’s oil, and warned President Barack Obama not to try any similar intervention in the South American country. "With Venezuela, don’t even think about it, Mr. Obama," he said.
Chavez, who has long-standing ties to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, demanded the airstrikes be halted and echoed claims of civilian casualties by Libya’s government, which said 48 people were killed.
"Civilian victims have now begun to appear because some bombs are launched — 200, 400 bombs from out there at sea — and those bombs fall where they fall," Chavez said during his weekly television and radio program.
Intervention seems to make strange bedfellows, now it is many conservatives agreeing with this Marxist…go figure:eek:
Thanks Obama
Shocker? 5,000+ illegal aliens VOTED in last year’s election in Colorado.
I’d like to see what the numbers are for all states.
This isn’t a left or right issue and we don’t know who these "non-citizens" voted for, we just know they voted.
Republicans are using this as a wake-up call that credentials need to be better enforced and documented when it comes to elections.
Republicans on the House Administration Committee want to shore up voter registration rules in the wake of a Colorado study that found as many as 5,000 non-citizens in the state took part in last year’s election. Rep. Gregg Harper (R-Miss.), the panel’s chairman, called the study “a disturbing wake-up call” that should cause every state to review its safeguards to prevent illegal voting. “We simply cannot have an electoral system that allows thousands of non-citizens to violate the law and vote in our elections. We must do more to protect the integrity of our electoral processes,” Harper added. |
Obama kills Libyan civilians in attack launched because Kadaffi did too
Does this strike you as not productive?
How many civilians does Obama need to kill before his score is higher than Kadaffis?
"They are killing dozens of civilians,"

Gov Walker gives in: Will comply to court order
Wis. governor halts plans to implement union law
MADISON, Wis. – A Wisconsin judge on Thursday did what thousands of pro-union protesters and boycotting Democratic lawmakers couldn’t, forcing Republican Gov. Scott Walker to halt plans to implement a law that would strip most public workers of their collective bargaining rights and cut their pay.
I wouldn’t say the protests had no affect on Gov Walkers decision.
Judges clarification:
Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi, who had issued an order intended to block implementation of the law while she considered a challenge to its legitimacy and warned of sanctions for noncompliance, amended her order Thursday to clarify that the law had not taken effect, as Republican leaders argued it had.
Did the courts order really need clarification?
Statement of compliance:
The governor’s top aide, Department of Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch, later issued a statement saying Walker would comply with Sumi’s order and halt preparations that were under way to begin deducting money from most public workers’ paychecks, but that the governor’s administration still believes the law took effect after a state office unexpectedly published online.
I continue to believe the law will be re-passed at some point, barring the unlikely event a court rules it. If that were to occur the law could be modified. For those hoping this law, or some form of it will not become law are engaging in wishful thinking.
Political fallout resulting is another topic.
