Hey all you good looking smart conservatives

February 28, 2011 By Dan

It’s great to be counted among you. When you see an ugly, dumb person, you can be confident that they are liberal. So be kind to them, obviously they were born liberal and can’t help it.

"Rightwing candidates are better looking than their leftwing counterparts, something they benefit from during elections, according to a study conducted by Swedish and Finnish economists."

"Sociologists and social psychologists have long known that there is a widespread perception shared by many people that physically attractive people are more intelligent and competent, as well as hold many other desirable characteristics."

Vermont gov: I can see N.H. from my house!

February 28, 2011 By Dan

This is a pretty decent article because it reflects reality. In a globalized world, jobs and capital can leave. Rather at the state, local, or national level, you have to remain competitive.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/politi…_my_house.html

Quote:

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin, a Democrat with a unified legislature, is rejecting calls from within his party to raise taxes. And he has a Sarah Palin joke to explain why.

“My problem is, on the eastern side of me, I’ve got the state of New Hampshire,” he told POLITICO. “Sarah Palin said that she could do foreign policy because she could see Russia from her house. Well, I’m the first governor in 40 years that can see New Hampshire from my house. So I can do tax policy. And I can tell you, we’ve got no more capacity. They’re killing us.”

New Hampshire has no sales tax and no income tax.

NYC Council determined to pass “police state” pregnancy center gag law next week

"New York City Council determined to pass “police state” pregnancy center gag law next week

Fri Feb 25 7:30 PM EST

NEW YORK, February 25, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Pro-life sources in New York City have learned that a bill designed to gag pro-life crisis pregnancy centers (CPC), much like one in Baltimore that was deemed unconstitutional, is slated to be voted out of committee and immediately put to a full Council vote next Wednesday.

Proposed Initiative 371-A accuses crisis pregnancy centers of employing “deceptive practices” that “can impede and/or delay” women’s access to abortion"

excerpt http://www.lifesitenews.com/home/pri…le/news/28572/

This is unconstitutional!

Of course, Planned Parenthood, and the rest, do not have to comply with full disclosure. :frown:

The goal of the NYC council is to put restrictions on the pro-life crisis pregnancy centers, but not the abortion centers.

when oil reaches $210 a barrel, what will you do?

February 28, 2011 By Dan

what’s in your pocket?

Oil benchmark Brent hit $110 a barrel in trading last week. What will it do this week?

Quote:

A report issued by the Japanese Nomura Bank warns that if oil exports from Libya and Algeria were to come to a halt because of political turmoil, oil could double in price to $220 a barrel within months. In the absence of oil from these two countries, OPEC’s spare capacity will decline to 2.1 million barrels/day (b/d), the level that had driven the price of oil to $147 in 2008. [It was reported elsewhere that oil exports from Libya have already declined by 25% or about 400,000 b/d]

The higher price the consumer pays for gasoline is tantamount to taxation which reduces the purchasing power and could stall the revival of the global economy which was hit hard by the financial crisis of 2008-2009.

The Working Man Arguement

February 27, 2011 By Dan

Currently there is a discussion on what defines the working man. I agree that a working man is defined as anyone who gets up and goes to a job whether at home or elswhere. I am not defining the type of job. Any job to me is defined as something that you do and get money for. Any one who is taking non-legal sick time for pay, or is running away and hiding from their job to avoid penalties for non performance, is not in my consideration being a working man, but stealing from their employers.
