About the Faith and Freedom Coalition

The Faith and Freedom Coalition is committed to educating, equipping, and mobilizing people of faith and like-minded individuals to be effective citizens. Together we will influence public policy and enact legislation that strengthens families, promotes time-honored values, protects the dignity of life and marriage, lowers the tax burden on small business and families, and requires government to tighten its belt and live within its means.

The Florida Faith and Freedom Coalition contacted over 750,000 conservative voters in 2010 in the Sunshine State with voter guides, voter contact mail, phone banks, and door-to-door GOTV volunteers. Its predecessor organization, the Florida Christian Coalition, has mobilized faith-based voters in Florida for more than 20 years. We expect more than 1,000 FFC members and supporters, Tea Party activists, Presidency V delegates, and key leaders from across Florida to attend the Presidency V Faith and Freedom Kick-Off, which will be one of the premier events leading up to the straw poll.

Interview with David Arnett about his book "Messengers"

Posted in: AM Ocala Live, Blog, Podcasts by admin on September 12, 2011

By all accounts, Jake Daniels should have died when his SUV collided head-on with a moving truck. Now the vision of the mysterious woman who saved his life is consuming his every thought. A formerly nonreligious person, Jake becomes obsessed with learning more about angels, near-death experiences and spirituality. He leaves his fiancée and art career on hold to travel the country searching for the mystery woman, who he believes is an angel. As he’s drawn into a series of earth-shattering angel and demon experiences, Jake discovers he’s being prepared for an imperative task to step into world affairs to prevent the clash of civilizations and reverse the violence and hatred of the post-9/11 world. As his search for answers leads him around the world and across faith traditions, Jake questions: Why him? Why now? And is it too late?

A riveting novel about the urgent spiritual and political questions we face in the 21st century, Messengers will leave you reconsidering your outlook on life and death and why we are here.

Save America's Food

Posted in: Blog by admin on September 6, 2011

The fight to save America’s farm is not just about the farms or the rural towns, Main Streets and small businesses that need them. It’s a matter of saving our nation’s food supply, preserving our economy, and keeping our jobs and families intact. What steps our politicians take in Washington will decide the very fate and direction of our country in very profound ways.

Right now, there is a bill floating through Congress called the Legal Workforce Act – or H.R. 2164 – introduced by Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX). It requires all businesses to use the national E-Verify database to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

We understand the need to successfully manage our nation’s immigration problem. That’s important. But, at the same time, Congress must realize that America’s farms are not like most businesses. Specifically, they must acknowledge the critical role farm workers play in keeping our agricultural infrastructure alive and thriving.

Unlike other industries, the vast majority of our employees (perhaps 80 percent) are estimated to lack proper status. They are hardworking, skilled agricultural professionals who produce, harvest and care for our nation’s food supply. As has been demonstrated over years of effort, they cannot be replaced. So, any meaningful E-Verify legislation must contain provisions that provide efficient and legal pathways for needed farm workers to put food on our tables and support our economy.

Most of our farm workers are seasonal or migrant workers performing jobs that most Americans won’t do – even those unemployed. For example: when the North Carolina Farm Bureau waged an aggressive statewide campaign with an 800# to hire 60,000 farm workers, only two people called. A Florida orange grower who, in desperation, turned to a “halfway house” program for workers found, after one week, that every single low-risk inmate who tried the work chose to return to jail. Farmers have been tireless in their efforts to recruit American citizens, but there are few who have the desire or the know-how to do this physically demanding and highly specialized work.

When American farms can’t produce or harvest, they shut down. Which means our nation will be forced to increase food imports from places like China, where there is questionable food safety enforcement. And the damage to our economy, still in a fragile state of recovery, would be severe. It’s high time we educate Congress about how important farm workers are. Tell our lawmakers to stop and think: don’t destroy America’s ability to produce its own food and don’t cause extra stress on our economy. Farms are a legacy we cannot afford to lose.
