Hey look, now it is bipartisan!
Angel Taveres, the mayor of Providence has decided to send termination letters to every single teacher in the city. Essentially this means their jobs are gone at the end of the year.

Edit to add: The plan was pushed forth by Taveres, though the final decision was made in a 4-3 decision by the school board. Sorry for any confusion.
It doesn’t necessarily mean they are all fired, they will be given the opportunity to reapply for their jobs next year, though likely it does mean that all tenure and senority pay raises will be gone for them and they will be treated as first year teachers.
Nothing like 20 year vets seeing their salaries cut by more than 50%!
