I pay Social Security $551 a month yet my account balance is $0

I noticed I’m paying Social Security $551.75 a month, no small amount so I looked in the Social Security trust fund vault and its empty? :think: It seems Congress spent all my money what the ****? Is this how socialist programs work? :eh: I’m pretty sure if I invested this money in the stock market my account balance wouldn’t be $0.
